Stephen M. Matthias

Stephen Michael Matthias, 52, of Norwood, Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on January 6, 2026. Born in Philadelphia on March 15, 1973, to his mother, Gail Matthias, he was a beloved son, father, and brother. Steve took great pride in working with his hands, approaching every project—no matter how complex—with patience and determination. He earned a reputation among friends and family as someone who could repair or improve just about anything placed before him. In addition to his remarkable practical skills, he had a deep love of music. However, he was best known for his unwavering passion for the outdoors; Steve found peace and happiness in nature, dedicating countless hours to fishing, hunting, and simply appreciating the outside. Steve is survived by his children: Billy Epright, Christina Semple, Stephen Semple, and Shawn Semple; his mother, Gail Matthias; and his siblings: Cindy Roycroft (Danny), Denise Redding (Rick), Gary Matthias (Jessica), and Michael Matthias.
