James C. Amos, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and patriot, passed away on June 3, 2026, at the VA Medical Center. Born on January 27, 1948, in Warren, Pennsylvania, James lived a life marked by honor, dedication, and a deep connection to his family and country.
James proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was honored with a Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. His military service was a defining chapter of his life, reflecting his courage and commitment to the nation. Beyond his service, James was a man of many talents and passions. He had a profound appreciation for gunsmithing, woodworking, fishing, and hunting, hobbies that brought him both joy and a sense of peace. Additionally, he held a special interest in military memorabilia, preserving the history and stories of those who served alongside him.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn M. Amos, who stood by his side through every season of life. Together, they raised three children: Matthew J. Amos, Melissa Spadea, and Kristen L. Calohan, each of whom carries forward his legacy of strength and compassion. His love extended warmly to his six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and happiness for him. James also treasured his sister, Harriet Bell, whose bond with him was a lifelong gift. He was preceded in death by parents Fred and Ruth (Coe) Amos.
Throughout his years, James touched the lives of many with his quiet strength, unwavering principles, and the simple, enduring kindness he showed to family and friends. His story is one of dedication—to his country, his craft, and above all, to those he loved.
As we remember James C. Amos, we honor a man who lived with integrity and generosity, whose spirit will remain alive in the hearts of all who knew him.
