Carter Ann Bixler

Carter Ann Bixler passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at the age of 74. She was born on December 16, 1950, to Robert and Jean Bixler. Carter spent her early years in Manheim, Pennsylvania, before moving with her family to Westfield, New Jersey, in 1964. In 1977, she returned to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she later married Theodore Gerhart in 1980 and raised her two sons. A lifelong admirer of theater, reading, writing, and education, Carter approached life with intelligence, humor, and heart. She was quick-witted and compassionate, always able to find laughter even in difficult moments. When life presented her challenges, she faced them with determination and grace, guided by deep care for her family. Carter is survived by her sons, Alex Gerhart and David (wife Mariel) Milito; her granddaughter, Emma Milito; and her siblings, Dana Bixler Downing, Joel Bixler, Eric Bixler, and Jill Bixler. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Todd Bixler and Robert Bixler Jr. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, kind heart, and the quiet strength with which she met every chapter of her life.
